Stephen Houff, MD

Dr. Houff is the founder of HMG and most recently served as president and Chief Executive Officer.  He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Cogent HMG through the initial integration and now serves as the Chairman of the Board. A practicing hospitalist since 1993, Dr. Houff grew HMG from a single-site practice.Dr. Houff served as the medical director of Harrington Benefits, a leading TPA serving self insured employers, where he established case management, pre-certification, fee review and retro review functions. He also served on the Medical Executive Committee, chaired the Physician Peer Review and chaired the Hospital Quality Improvement Committee at The Ohio State University Hospital East. He was chief of the medical staff at The Ohio State University Hospital East from 2003–2005. Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Houff completed his residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD.
